Ra
Golden and glorious as the sun, this electric solid body guitar is luxurious enough for the gods. One in particular: Ra.
This spectacular artifact is carved from a singular burl of yellow cedar. Also know as Nootka cypress or Alaskan cedar, this timber is solid, stable and incredibly smooth to the touch. To keep the weight to a manageable 7.3lbs (3.3kg), it is slim (only 1.5” thick) and carefully rounded on all sides.
The neck too is a single slab of incredibly dense and resonant Kabo Rosewood (dalbergia lanceolaria). The smooth, fast, slick c-profile is a perfect match for the highly polished jumbo stainless steel frets. Naturally, the fretboard is prepared by Plek machine. This revolutionary technology allows the frets to be dressed accounting for true string tension, for absolute perfection in playability. As such, there is no need for a truss rod or any adjustments.
In keeping with the theme of organic curves, the tuners are locking Gotoh 510s with 18:1 tuning ratio. The bridge and control knobs are of my own design, 3-d printed in stainless steel.
The pickups are Lace Alumitones with a clever wiring scheme. The X-bar in the bridge position is tapped so as to balance well with the single-coil neck pickup, and out of phase for a hollow and stinging middle position. But pull up on the tone control, and the full power of the bridge pickup is connected directly to the output jack, for instant access to searing lead tone.
Ships in a Mono Vertigo high-end gig bag.
